Come see my artwork in Nostalgia, a group show featuring the work of four members of Fringe: Women Artists of Oklahoma. There will be lots of artwork to brighten your wintertime, including several of my adorable manatee pieces!
Nostalgia, a show featuring the work of Fringe artists Brandi Downham, Jessica Legako, Van Lango, and Kerri Shadid, will open with a reception on Thursday, Nov. 29 from 6 pm to 9 pm at Verbode. The opening reception is free and open to the public. Visitors will be able to the meet the artists and enjoy hors d’oeuvres and libations.
As the days grow darker and the holidays near, we become nostalgic for seasons of the past. The playfulness of childhood, the birds of springtime, the scent of a summer rose, voyages to see natural wonders. Memories inspired the artists in Nostalgia to create artwork celebrating nature’s recurrence and the cycles of life.
Brandi Downham paints, draws, and collages layers of bright flowers and birds in an exploration of time. Jessica Legako’s textural and gestural oil paintings capture her observations of the land. Van Lango explores the fragility of existence through her paint, pen, and ink plants. Kerri Shadid marbles paper and cuts it to create whimsical animal scenes and abstract works.
Fringe is a collective of professional women artists in Oklahoma working in a variety of media and styles. The artists showing in Nostalgia will donate a portion of all art sales from the show to The Homeless Alliance.
