At my Poetry Stand, I write short, spontaneous, often absurd, free poems for visitors, using a word of their choosing as inspiration.
Poetry Stand has been a popular part of OVAC’s Momentum OKC 2014 art show, First Friday Art Walk in OKC’s Paseo Arts District, Premiere on Film Row in OKC, the Arts Council of OKC’s Art Moves, sponsored by Devon, and the Oklahoma Festival of the Arts.
I have also performed Poetry Stand at the opening night of World Literature Today’s Neustadt Festival at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK, and at PLUG Projects’ Art Book Fair in Kansas City, MO.
Poetry Stand Luxe: The Haute Couture Line of Poetry Stand offers a more luxurious feel, with a feather quill pen and parchment paper, for the finer events in life. It is perfect for wedding receptions and adult birthday parties. I have performed Poetry Stand Luxe at wedding receptions, art openings, fundraising events, including OVAC’s annual 12×12.
I offer a wedding reception package that includes Poetry Stand Luxe, prewritten poems about the couple for guests to take home, and a custom piece of poetry artwork celebrating the couple’s love for them to hang in their home. Email ks@kerrishadid.com for more details.
Poetry Stand is available for parties and events. Treating your guests to free, customized poetry is a great way to make your birthday party, wedding reception, office get-together, or other event unique and memorable. The poems, which I write on card stock with a logo for the event at the top, make for a fun souvenir of your party. Rates start at $50 per hour with a two hour minimum.
